Season before using, as with all cast iron products. Doing it twice before using makes it even better. As many other reviews state, this is not really suitable for drinking water. |
Kettle works as described and definitely makes a difference. Add scents to the water for an even better experience. When our wood stove gets to desired temperature the water in the kettle last about 3 hours before needing a refill. |
Handle on this unit is stays touchable after getting hot but you will need a glove to remove the lid to add water. Unit will get a little rust if you leave water in it while not in use. Comes out with a good copper pad and a good rubbing. |
